15FT SHIPPING CONTAINERS

Tuesday 14 February 2012 Filed in: General

Need an 'odd sized' container? Is the standard sized 20ft shipping container a little too large for your requirements? The good news is that Containers Direct has fabricated a batch of smaller sized containers from standard sized 20ft and 40ft shipping containers.

We often get requests for 15ft shipping containers, and the 15ft Cheshire model is one of our most commonly bought non standard sized containers. You can see this container still has the original doors in place from the larger container used to cut from.

Basically, our 15ft containers are made by taking a 40ft shipping container, cutting it up into three sections and fabricating new pieces for the 'missing' doors and ends as the result of cutting. This gives us the scope to make three new containers – two 15fts and one 10ft. However only one of these pieces will have a set of doors in tact, so new ones have to be made for the other two container pieces. This can be an advantage to the customer as it gives them the choice of door type.

Many of our customers will prefer the original doors as they have rubber seals to keep water out of the container and offer a good level of security. These doors are favoured by building sites, but for less industrial customers, such as schools and clubs, they can be quite heavy to handle. Also the chances of water getting into the container under normal usage are quite remote as our 15ft containers have a drip rail welded above the door which deflects rain water.

For doors that are easier to open and close, and for a less industrial look, we can fit flat panelled doors to any cut up container. For lighter use and personal storage and these doors are often a better option.

Containers Direct have designed a third option which has the advantages of both types of door – light and flat panelled but with a rubber seal added.

If access is too tight for a 15ft container to be delivered to your site, you may consider opting for the flat pack version. It is quick and easy to put up yourself on site, and can save on the overall cost too.

We are able to offer great deliver rates on all products bought from Containers Direct, as we have supply depots in many parts of the UK. We have recently added a new supply depot in the Southampton, so if you live in the South West this depot is ideally placed for delivering containers to you without the added expense of a long distance journey. We also have a batch of 20ft and 40ft shipping containers ready to be released from this supply depot.
