Ways to customise your shipping container

Door Options

Side Doors

Side doors provide convenient access to both ends of your container, making them ideal for storage. This means you don't have to rummage to the very back to find the first thing you put into your container. Cost of additional S1 style side doors - £835.00 plus VAT

Personnel Doors

Our steel personnel doors are suitable for frequent pedestrian use incorporating multi deadlocks and offering high levels of security. Personnel doors are the preferred door type for our portable site office containers as well as classrooms, workshops and equipment stores.

Patio and Bi-Folding Doors

For bespoke conversion projects, we offer a variety of domestic style patio doors and bi-folding doors to enhance the aesthetics of the container. These doors are often used in our container conversion projects, and are a popular feature of a bespoke office, showroom or pop-up shop.

Roller Shutter Doors

8ft wide roller shutter doors come with either manual or electric operation. Made from galvanised steel, they are a favourite where space is limited, and can be fitted as an additional door or as a replacement for an original container style door.

Extra Wide Side Doors

For many customers, access into the full side of a container can be helpful if you have extra wide loads. Our extra wide side doors are a great alternative to a traditional full side access container where more entry width is required. A great addition to 20ft shipping containers, or bespoke sizes.

Compressed door seals

An option for S1 doors - these are attached to the inside of the container door and compress to form a watertight seal when the door is closed. Price of compressed door seals - £65.00 plus VAT

Padlock

Add one of our specialist Lock 2000 padlocks for a discounted price of £45 plus VAT. Unlike normal padlocks, these are designed to fit perfectly under the pre-fitted lockbox to provide additional security to your container.

Lockbox

An anti-theft steel lockbox, which protects the container padlock. Free with all containers, excluding 40fts.

Exterior Optional Extras

Cladding

Wood cladding can help to 'disguise' your container. This can help with planning permission in some circumstances and improves the outside appearance of your container in rural settings. We offer three different standard cladding options; Rustic, Clean Cut and Shiplap.

Serving Hatches and Shutters

Following the recent trend of repurposing shipping containers into pop-up shops and catering units, shutters and hatches have become a common optional extra. As standard, we offer the lifting hatch on gas struts, flat panel shutters (which make excellent menu boards) and roller shutter hatches.

Sloping Roof

A sloping roof can be added to any container to provide a rain water run off. We usually suggest angling the roof away from main doors and windows however, if required, a sloping roof can also have guttering so the water flows into a drain on site or to the ground.

Living Roof

Another roof option at Containers Direct is a Living Roof, designed for growing plants and flowers, for an eco-friendly and attractive finish.

Ramps

Ideal if you need to get large and heavy items seamlessly into your container. Container floors are approximately 6 inches off the ground, so a ramp can help make any heavy lifting transitions easier. We offer a variety of ramps for containers - car ramps, heavy duty ramps, lightweight ramps, hinged ramps and bespoke builds.

Anti-vandal windows

Shipping container windows are a great addition to let in extra light and air to your container. With anti-vandal shutters as standard, your windows won't compromise the security of your container.

Sky lights

Sky lights are a great way to bring extra light into your shipping container without taking away wall space. These are perfect for bespoke conversions, or for units where maximum natural light is required.

Vents

Vents are the perfect addition to shipping containers if you require extra ventilation or air circulation. These are most commonly found in our Chemical Stores, but are also great for boiler houses and engine rooms. We offer a variety of different sized louvered vents as well as standard shipping vents.

Exterior Repaint

Repainting externally, using specialist rubberised container paint, will not only visually enhance your container, but it can also extend its life by providing an extra layer of protection against the elements and knock and bumps. Choose from an extensive range of colours. Free with all used containers under 20ft

Vinyl Stickers and Decals

Our vinyl stickers can be made in a variety of lengths and sizes, either as one large image or separate letters. These can be text or image based, and can be applied anywhere on the container.

Interior Optional Extras

Melamine Lining

Similar to ply lining, melamine lining is a wipe clean option favoured in office, toilet and catering conversions, whilst still providing insulation and protection against condensation.

Catering Packages

We offer a range of internal fit outs specifically for catering including worktops, cabinets, sinks and water heaters. These are ideal if you're planning a pop-up catering unit, or in need of a mobile office with a kitchenette for staff.

Ply Lining

Ply lined and insulated shipping containers provide all round protection against condensation to keep your items safe from water damage. Our ply comes in either 9mm or 12mm thickness, and is insulated with 100mm rockwool insulation as standard.

Electrics

If you require lighting, heating, or sockets for your container, we've got the power! We offer two standard options of electrical installations depending on the needs of our customers.

Grafotherm

An anti condensation treatment provides a cost effective way to minimise the damaging effects of condensation by absorbing moisture on the roof of the container as it forms and stopping it from dripping down onto the contents of the container. All our containers can be treated with Grafotherm, a highly effective solution to keep condensation within containers at bay.

Partitions

Create smaller areas for different uses within your container by dividing areas up with a partition wall. These can either be steel or timber, with the option of fitting an internal door into the partition to access both sections from the inside.

Shelving Racks

Maximise use of the ALL the space available within your container, including the height! Our 5 tier shelving racks come either pre-fitted by us, or flat packed for you to assemble once the container has arrived. Price per 3ft wide bay (assembled) - £50.00 plus VAT, or fitted £70.00 plus VAT

Air Con Units

If you're using your container as an office, or even as storage for temperature sensitive goods, an air con unit can be fitted to keep your temperatures constant. We would recommend fitting these with ply lining or melamine lining and insulation for the best results.

Turnstiles

We are able to fit turnstiles inside our shipping containers. These are popular for controlled access units for example in factories, festivals, markets or exhibitions.

Interior Repainting

We would recommend interior repainting with all second hand containers if you aren't lining and insulating the unit. An interior respray improves the appearance of the inside of the container, and as part of the process all rust patches are wire brushed down prior to painting.

Flooring Options

Vinyl flooring

Vinyl flooring is a great option for catering units or bathroom conversions. It is waterproof and durable, as well as being easy to keep clean!

Durbar Flooring

Durbar flooring is a steel non-slip flooring, most commonly found in our Kite Chemical Store.
