About shipping containers

Most of our containers in Southend come with a watertight guarantee and a wide choice of sizes ranging from 5ft to 45ft. So whether you need extra space for your business, school or club, or your own personal use, there is a container to suit. We sell containers to suit all budgets at, ranging from builder's grade to brand new, and delivery of all units can be arranged by our specialist hiab service. In addition, we offer choice of doors types, and a range of optional extras, including repainting and ply lining.

New shipping containers are sold with just one trip behind them, as they arrive in UK ports loaded with cargo for cheaper transportation. Used shipping containers will typically be around 10 - 15 years old, and the cosmetic conditions will have suffered from frequent sea-faring journeys and handling at ports. We offer a free repaint on all containers under 20ft, that will cover a lot of the cosmetic damage and greatly improve the appearance of the container. For containers over 20ft and over, we offer competitive repainting rates.

Using our conversion facilities

We are lucky to have our own conversion and new-build facilities on site in our main depot in Liverpool, which means we can supply shipping containers to our customers own specifications. 40ft Pizza Express Pod - CS99053

The first of its kind, Containers Direct are excited to be at the forefront of the Pizza Express Pod project that aims to roll out 1,000 new pizzerias globally by 2030. Designed to cook and serve pizza in the car park at Tesco Express in Southampton, the "grab and go" pizza pod is based on our MenuBox® design - an open kitchen housed in a shipping container, fitted with a collection window. With another two pods that have since opened in Swansea and Waltham Cross, we're looking forward to continuing to supply more shipping containers to bring the UK proper pizza on the go.
