Electrical Installations in Shipping Containers
Power, lighting and heating installed to suit your container
Supplying power to your container is a lot easier than you may think. We install to our clients' own layout, and we supply a CAD for approval prior to commencing work asking you to confirm where you would like to position your electrics. All wiring is surface mounted in plastic conduit. If you have purchased a ply lined container, we fit directly onto the ply. If the container is unlined, in order to avoid drilling directly into the container walls (no one wants a leaky container!), we weld additional steel strips to the inside of the container to mount the electrical fittings. To provide this, there would be an additional surcharge added to the electrical installation price depending on container length. Please ask your sales representative for prices. Prices will also vary if you upgrade to an extra wide container.
Whether you are using your container as secure storage, a workshop, a site office or a pop-up workspace, having safe electrics in place makes day-to-day use far easier. We can install electrics as a standalone upgrade, or as part of a lined and insulated conversion.
- External power connection: plug in via an external inlet (hook-up).
- Neat internal fit-out: wiring is surface mounted in plastic conduit for protection and easy inspection.
- Planned layout: we install to your preferred positions (and can provide a simple layout drawing for sign-off where required).

How we mount the electrics
All wiring is surface mounted in plastic conduit. If you have purchased a ply lined container, we fit directly onto the ply lining.
If the container is unlined and you still require electrics, we can avoid drilling through the container skin by welding additional internal steel strips to mount the electrical fittings. This method may add an additional surcharge depending on container length and specification. Please ask your Sales representative for pricing. Prices may also vary if you upgrade to an extra wide container.

Our standard consumer unit and external hook up
Electrical Certification
If you require your electrics to be certified, please let us know before placing your order. As all certificates expire once the container leaves the depot, we do not issue electrical certificates as standard within the rates above. If you require the electrics to be certified before the container leaves our depot, we are able to provide a certificate for an additional fee. However, as this will be invalid once the unit reaches your site, we recommend you engage a local electrician to re-certify the unit for your records.
