From a flat pack store to a 16ft lined container

The original enquiry was for a smaller insulated flat pack store. Following further discussion, requirement developed into a 16ft shipping container with a lined and insulated interior and a specific internal fit-out.

Agreed specification included S1 doors, a lockbox, 9mm plywood lining and 21 oak-finish PerfectFit coat rails. With all 21 rails needing to fit within the available wall space, Our CAD designer set out their positions on the technical drawing before installation.

Design and specification

  • 16ft high cube container: We allocated a once-used high cube container and converted it to the required 16ft length. The finished unit measured 16ft long by 8ft wide, with an external height of 9ft 6in.

  • Doors and security: We fitted S1 flat-panel doors for straightforward day-to-day access, together with a welded lockbox over the external locking point.

  • Lining and insulation: We insulated the interior and finished it with 9mm plywood lining, giving the container a complete internal finish ready for the coat-rail installation.

  • 21 coat rails: The oak-finish coat rails formed part of the fitted interior, so we included their positions in the CAD layout before installation. We then fitted all 21 rails with XL hooks.

  • External finish: We resprayed the container and S1 doors in RAL 5010 blue for one consistent exterior finish.
