For Loxford School of Science & Technology, we supplied a once-used 16ft high cube container and fitted it around a specific internal storage layout. We fitted S1 flat-panel doors, a welded lockbox, 9mm plywood lining and insulation, then installed 21 oak-finish PerfectFit coat rails inside. The exterior was resprayed in RAL 5010 blue. Delivery was arranged to the IG1 postcode area on a shared-load articulated HIAB vehicle.

From a flat pack store to a 16ft lined container

Loxford first asked us about a smaller insulated flat pack store. After further discussion, the requirement changed to a larger 16ft shipping container with a lined and insulated interior.

By the time the specification was agreed, the unit needed secure access, a clean plywood internal finish and 21 separate coat rails. We needed to plan the rail positions before fitting them so all 21 would fit within the available internal wall space.

Design and specification

  • 16ft high cube container: We allocated a once-used 16ft high cube container to the job. It measured 16ft long by 8ft wide, with an external height of 9ft 6in.
  • S1 doors and lockbox: We fitted S1 flat-panel doors for easier day-to-day access and welded on a lockbox to protect the external locking point.
  • 9mm plywood lining and insulation: We insulated the interior and finished it with 9mm plywood lining. The boards enclosed the insulation and gave us a consistent internal surface around the planned rail installation. You can see more about this type of finish on our ply-lined shipping containers page.
  • 21 coat rails planned in CAD: We treated the PerfectFit coat rails as part of the fitted interior rather than loose accessories. The CAD drawing was amended to show the rail positions before we installed all 21 rails with Toughook XL hooks.
  • RAL 5010 blue finish: We resprayed the full exterior in RAL 5010 blue so the container shell and S1 door arrangement had one consistent finish.

The completed build

Our production records confirm that all 21 coat rails were installed, and a quality inspection document was completed before the unit left the depot. The coat rails were fitted into the finished lined interior rather than supplied loose for installation later.

Delivery planning

We arranged delivery to the IG1 postcode area as a shared load on a 65ft articulated lorry with a HIAB crane for offload.
